Roman Pottery Day

13:00–17:30 14 July 2018 – by Tang Hall Big Local Archaeology

Come, have a go, and make Roman face pots like those on display in YourDIG: Tang Hall in this special event.

Join Graham Taylor from the BBC’s Great Pottery Throw Down to create replica pots using the methods used by the Romans in Tang Hall 2000 years ago. In the course of the workshop you will use experimental archaeology techniques to find out how the Roman potters worked and produced the pots that have survived for 2000 years.

The pots will be taken away to be fired at the end of the day before they are returned to York later this year.

Two workshops are available during the afternoon and pre-booking is essential through digyork.com/events/
